Elleke Boehmer (South Africa-at-Large & St John's, 1985) & Naomi Wolf (Connecticut & New College, 1985). Elleke Boehmer is Professor of World Literature in English at Oxford and Deputy Director of the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing at Wolfson. Elleke writes both fiction and non-fiction, cultural history and criticism. She has recently published her 5th novel, The Shouting in the Dark and Indian Arrivals: 1870-1915. Naomi Wolf, author, social critic, international journalist and political activist, Naomi raises awareness of the pervasive inequities that exist in society and politics. She encourages people to take charge of their lives, voice their concerns and enact change. the author of eight books, including the recently published, ‘Vagina: A New Biography’ and the New York Times bestsellers ‘The Beauty Myth’, ‘The End of America’ and ‘Give Me Liberty’. She recently published an article in The Guardian entitled, Young Women, reclaim your strong female voice. 14-15 November 2015: Biomedicine Weekend at Rhodes House
Rhodes Scholars and other senior Biomedicine figures are being invited to convene at Rhodes House to
1. meet with and share ideas and careers guidance with 50-60 current Rhodes, Gates and NIH Scholars, and
2. discuss important Biomedicine issues including Biotech investment valuation concerns

There is a planned visit to New Zealand in September 2015 by Sir Ivor Crewe, Master of University College, Oxford, who will be accompanied by Lady Crewe. Sir Ivor will give lectures in Auckland (14 September), Hamilton (15 September), Wellington (17 September), and Christchurch (18 September), as well as meeting New Zealand –based Rhodes Scholars and alumni of University College. 16-17 July: Higher Education Conference at Rhodes House focusing on Africa and Asia
25 May: Warden Charles Conn (Massachusetts & Balliol 1983) and his partner, Ms Camilla Borg, in conjunction with the Canadian Association of Rhodes Scholars (CARS) hosted a Scholar reception in Toronto.
16 May: The Second Rhodes Scholarships in Australia National Dinner in the presence of His Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC, Governor of Victoria. The Hon RJL (Bob) Hawke AC, former Prime Minister of Australia, was the guest of honour and speaker for the evening.
20 April: Rhodes House and the Rhodes Scholars in Britain (RSiB) had a talk on "Setting the Stage for Ebola: War, Peace, and Refugee Policy" by Prof Claudena Skran (Michigan & Magdalen 1983).
10 April: The Rhodes Trust, in collaboration with John H. Morrison (New Mexico & University 1955) hosted Scholars for a "pre-reception" drinks event preceding the 76th Annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race Dinner.
