20 April: Rhodes House and the Rhodes Scholars in Britain (RSiB) group warmly invite you to join them for an evening talk on "Setting the Stage for Ebola: War, Peace, and Refugee Policy" by Prof Claudena Skran (Michigan & Magdalen 1983) The talk will consider questions such as why did Ebola in West Africa spread so far and so fast? Why has it taken so long to contain and control this deadly disease, especially in Sierra Leone? What was the impact of the war (1991-2001) and the post-conflict peacebuilding after the war (2001-2003) which contributed to creating a weak and vulnerable health system?
16-17 July: Higher Education Conference at Rhodes House, which will focus on current challenges in Asia and Africa where the Rhodes network can create innovative, sustainable, and impactful change.
