Falcon Scholarship 2014

The Falcon Scholarship is modelled on the Rhodes Scholarship, and administered by the Rhodes Trust.

As with the Rhodes Scholarship, the Selection Committee for the Falcon Scholarship is looking for outstanding leaders who are motivated to fight 'the world's fight', to 'esteem the performance of public duties as their highest aim', and to promote international understanding and peace.

Candidates for the Falcon Scholarship will be assessed against four criteria:

  • literary and scholastic attainments
  • energy to use one's talents to the full
  • truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship
  • moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.

In short, the Selection Committee will be seeking young women and men of outstanding intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service. The Falcon Scholarship will support students who demonstrate a strong propensity to emerge as 'leaders for the world's future'.

Before proceeding with an application, candidates should familiarise themselves with the documents below, and with the graduate studies prospectus of the University of Oxford.

Please note: the closing date for applications is Friday 10 January, 11.59 pm Gulf Standard Time.
